The system allows you to start off on a slope without brake operation. The Uphill Start Support function prevents the vehicle rolling back down the hill. This avoids the driver having to switch rapidly from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal and assists starting on a hill The function is automatically activated when the system detects a gradient of more than 10% and when a gear is selected (even with the clutch pedal depressed). This brake is held for approximately 2 seconds, then it gradually releases This system is different to the Electric Parking Brake feature which works on all gradients, but requests that the driver pulls on the control(unless the car is stopped). Uphill Start Support also works when reversing.
