When equipped with DDS, you can safely descend a hill at a constant low speed without braking, even if the angle is steep. This permits the driver to concentrate on steering. To switch Downhill Drive Support on, Lock Mode must be selected first and the DDS button pressed (dashboard mounted switch). Downhill Drive Support comes into operation when the vehicle is in first gear on a downhill gradient of more than 10% It enables the car to drive at a constant speed of approximately 7km/h. The driver only needs to turn the steering-wheel without touching either the brakes or accelerator. Above speeds of 25km/h the system is deactivated. The system can also be activated in reverse gear too.
